what is canine distemper?: canine distemper is a highly contagious and serious disease caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and often the nervous system of puppies and dogs. ): (the virus can also affects wild animals like raccoon, coyote, and ferrets).

what dogs are at risk?: all dogs are at risk but puppies younger than 4 months old and dogs that have yet to be vaccinated against canine distemper are more likely to acquire the disease.

what are some signs of canine distemper?: the first sign of distemper is eye discharge that includes the watery to pus-like. also, dogs can get high fever, nasal discharge, coughing, lethargy, reduced appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. later, this disease will affect the nervous system, brining seizures, twitching, or partial or complete paralysis. distemper is fatal. if a dog survives distemper the canine distemper virus irreparable damage to a dog's nervous system.
